Broken fingers & flat tires

Today was just one of those days, Luke decided he was going down to the ice rink at 06:00 am this morning to do some "Early Bird" skating and practice ice hockey before school. 06:00, i ask you what kind of time is that, anyway he comes back an hour later with an "Owee" on his hand, apparently he fell over and trapped his finger between his stick and the ice. He still went to school and we thought it was okay. Jan had to go and pick him up as the teacher sent him home, during the morning it all swelled up and they thought it was broke.

We took him down the hospital and the x-rayed it and sent us to the clinic, the doctor there said it was "Smushed" which means the bone is not broken but badly jarred, oh well we got it strapped up and bought him home.

It was then i noticed the rear tire was nearly flat, i took the wheel nuts off and the wheel was still firmly stuck. One quick trip round the tire bay and i was told there was a bit of corrosion between the wheel and the hub, a sharp whack with a mallet saved the day and all was made better for the princely sum of $17.50.

Just in case you are wandering why i am whittering on about flat tires and breakdowns, well heres the reason.

Remember i am an OTR trucker which means i am away for days or weeks at a time. What would happen if your other half was using the car and it broke down, had a puncture or even just run out of gas, would they be able to cope, fix or sort out and get moving again.

We bought a new car anyway for the reliability but flat tires can happen to anyone. We have now signed up with the AMA which is basically the same as the AA or RAC over in UK. Now we got peace of mind.
