I didnt make it to Lebec, i got pretty sleepy and pulled in at a rest stop, i was going to try and make it to the "76" where i got the scorpion lollies from but couldnt be bothered, i woke up next morning, plodded on and not 5 miles down the road was the big "76" sign.Anyhoo on i went and made my delivery, time, right temp, safely & legally etc etc etc.......
Phoned USA dispach and asked them which way next, the answer was Pickles from the Port, then a big pause...............................
Quick joke:
A bear walks into a bar and sits at the counter, "I think i will
have........................a Vodka & Tonic please".
And the barman replies "Hey Mr Bear, whats with the big pause"
Back to the story:
Then came the "But"...........................Collect half your load from there and half from San Diego.
So that means battle north thru the LA rush hour (all day) to get to PH, then jump back in it, drive all the way thru the middle of LA to get to San Diego, all before they close.Oh well in for a penny, in for a pound (sorry i dont know the Canadian equivelent) and unbelieveably i made it although i did miss the scale and managed to get locked in.
Not a problem, i went round to the public scale about 3 miles south, balanced out, bought a sandwich and buggered off north. We had a bit of drama coming thru the mountains, 50 million cop cars appeared out of know where and started weaving all over the highway and rounded up about 50 cars.
The guys on the CB reckon they were doing immigration checks...........................I thought, if they are giving out checks to immigrants i am going to get one but they must have been wrong coz all that happened was they checked my passport, asked me where i lived then waved me on, perhaps they wanted to know where i lived coz they would mail the check to me, i didnt ask and on i went.
I managed to get to Barstow where i have run out of hours (again) and i am going to reset for 36 then burn north again. There are a lot of drivers (so i hear) who never have to reset, they just do so many hours per day and never acumulate enough to warrant a reset. I really wish i could do that, and i always mean to but the minute i turn that ignition key the little horns come out of the side of my head and all i can think about is getting as far up the road as i can legally, then 6 days later i am sitting in a truckstop, feeling sorry for myself and vowing to take it easy next time.
Anyway thats how i work i guess, i prefer to just go out for a week or so, get down there, tip the load, reload, and get back to Lethbridge within the 70 hours so i can reset at home then go back out again.
Montedarlo (Phil) manages to do it coz he's out all the time, power to ya Phil, you got more will power than me...........................
Oh yes i almost forgot, no pics cos my mouse is dead, it started playing up so i hit it to make it better, now it doesnt work at all. I took it apart but it wont go back together, anybody know anything about mouses (apart from being called mice)......................
