High Temperatures on the I-5

Yes it did get hotter thank you

How to hit the runaway lane too fast

How to put a Volvo in a ditch

How to burn out your brakes on a hill

Cactii in a field

Tomorrows another day

Once the oil was collected i asked the customer where the nearest public scale was, he reckoned there was no need to scale off, it was a standard load that went out 2 or 3 times per week and it was always ok.

Well being the trusting soul i am, i asked him where it was anyway, it was about 10 kms away in the wrong direction but that was going to be my next destination. Sure enough, the trailer axle was 2500 to heavy, it took a little bit of juggling but i eventually got it to balance out, the axle spacing was a bit borderline but we were good to go.

Oh did i mention the air conditioning packed in, it wouldnt run on the TriPak and this morning the front blowers packed in so i had no A/C or even demisters, lets hope it doesnt get too hot on the way North.

The journey up to Vancouver couldnt be more simpler, its the I-5 all the way up and i am planning on doing it in two and a half days.

We had a bit of a drama on one of the down grades, a farm truck carrying onions lost his brakes and had to use the serices of the nearest runaway lane, unfortunately it hit it a bit to fast and his trailer flipped over. Those arnt the best pictures ive ever took but double click and all the information's there. The white Volvo driver obviously got caught up in the emotion of it all and put his truck in the ditch in sympathy.

The first night i got to Avenal which is where i found the scorpion candy, its quite a nice little "76" truckstop and very quiet, unfortunately there was no showers or internet, i guess thats why it was pretty quiet. The one thing that struck me that night was the Californian evening sky.
