A Shocking Statement

I got a problem....................

I keep getting static shocks off 3045 and recently its got worse. ive heared stories off other drivers that the earthing isnt brilliant on these freight-shakers but this is getting beyond a joke.

Ever since 3045 and i were partnered up she's given me the odd zap, usually when i touch the passenger side door lock or the backs of the seats. Lately i get zapped off everything, i got a belt off my TomTom the other day and it was so powerfull it switched it on and i also got a zap off the CB.

i use this lighty up mouse on my laptop and sometimes when i brush passed a seat the lights flicker.

Anyway i reported it to Penske(thats who we lease from) so im hoping the take a look at it this week. it might even be to do with the temperatures or the fact that i had a jacket on but i will keep you posted on that one.

Just in case anyone thinks im just being a whimp, i have got a phobia about electricity and having a high static level is a real pain. Believe it or not when i was a lad i couldnt wear normal wind up watches, they used to stop on me, as if i was magnetising the spring or something.

  1. Hey Lyndon, FINCH here, we met in Dryden Ontario, i use to drive 3045 when it was new? I know u remember me, we spoke for about an hour. Like i said before, this shock thing was never an issue with me when i had it, but, i have a great idea. I noticed on some tanker trucks they have the anti static drag belts that go under the truck and drag along the road to reduce/eliminate the static electricity. I doubt anyone would want ANY static electricity when driving a tanker or loading unloading some fuel. Might want PENSKE to add a couple of them. They are cheap at Canadian Tire.

  2. Hiya Finch

great to hear from you buddy, yep i remember you okay, and i appreciate all the great advice you gave me. i am definitely looking into that thing we were discussing.

i am going into Lethbridge tomorrow so i will pop into Tire and grab one of those static straps. it will be interesting to see what verdict Penske come up with.

Back in Uk a lot of cars have those straps but i havent noticed any over here.

Anyway its great to hear from you and stay in touch.

    Safe Journeys.

  3. That's shocking Lyndon...

Like Finch said. Get some of those earth straps put on. Is it worse when the Tripack is on?

  4. Hahaha! I was going to suggest the ground strap, but I've been beaten to the (zap)punch!

  5. Funny you should mention the tripac, Penske told me that sometimes the grounding comes loose and that causes a problem.

She went in the shop this week so i will see how it goes and take it from there.

Thanks to everybody for the advice though.

    Lyndon
