Ive had a busy few days since Aurora, i woke up, grabbed a shower and bought a new camera to get me by till santa gets me a new one. Bought a cheap 5.1 mega pixel, got back to the cab and found it needed an SD card which i couldnt find anywhere in the States.
It was really annoying coz Seattle is one amazing place, you come over the brow of the hill and there it is sprawled out across the valley, Seattle is basically a big port and down town is right next to the harbour, never mind, next time ill get some pics.
Anyway, back into Canada, dropped the trailer in Delta and told to bobtail round to Annasis Island. I got the nod that the load wasnt ready yet so i drove round to Tim Hortons first and treated myself to a toasted chicken club and a few donuts.

When my belly was happy, i scooted over the bridge and followed the truck route round to Burnaby, again more fantastic things to photograph and no camera.
Got to the shipper and was told the load would be at least a couple of hours so i parked up and headed for the town. I took a thing called a skytrain to the nearest mall and found a Walmart where i got an SD memory card and some rechargeable batteries.
10 oclock that night the load was ready so i coupled up and pointed 3045 East. We drove over the Rockies thru the night and arrived in Okanagan Falls at 5 0clock next morning ready for a morning of multi dropping up the Okanagan Valley, now there is another beautiful place. I was delivering groceries to IGA convenience stores, not particularly exciting but different.
The drops were Okanagan Falls, Penticton, Summerland and Kelowna, leaving me with an empty trailer which i dropped in The H&R yard Kelowna.
I am now sat bobtail in the yard and at about midnight i am hitching up to another trailer and we are Calgary bound, i will get into Calgary tomorrow morning where i am old there is another load that i am taking to Lethbridge, the clock is ticking, we have to get back to Lethbridge PDQ as we are on a special mission on Sunday. A mission that 3045 is particularly excited about...

Hey Lyndon,
ReplyDeleteIt's looking pretty icy there. Are both those rear axles drives, or just one? How does she perform in the ice?
Andy
Good question mate............dunno, ill have a look in the morning or ask someone who knows such things.
ReplyDeleteShe performs well on the ice, donuts, j turns, 360 degree reverse-outs and even triple salkos.
Seriously, not too bad, when she gets a bit skittish she behaves a bit like a rear wheel drive car, a lot more feel than the cab overs over there.
I came over the rockies thru last night and even on compacted snow i was pretty confident.
Only time i had problems was tonight when i was moving axles on a loaded trailer, i couldnt get enough grip to move the damn thing even with the diff lock in.
Note to Andy and Lyndon.
ReplyDeleteSit on some ice and let here spin, this will show which axel is your prime drive axel, now apply the first power divider"Diff lock" this limits the amount of spin lateraly on that axel,,apllying the second diff lock gives you equal drive diagonaly on both axels,so you can drive normally. The third diff lock, locks all 4 wheels perminently, steering is nigh on impossible, use with caution and only to get going
i use 4th diff lock to drive up walls.
ReplyDeleteCool answer Gremmie!!!
ReplyDeleteWell that answers the question then, both axles are drive axles. You can tell by looking underneath to see if you have a short prop shaft from one diff to the next.
3 diff locks on these trucks. Cool. Just like driving my DROPS in the Army again. Are they air activated or electric?
