I could do a bit of canine psychology here . . . . . .
Taking into account that to ensure a canine living in an domestic environment understands its place within the pack, and indeed the pecking order (within the family unit), allowing the said canine to sleep/rest in the same rest areas as the remainder of the family, may cause confusion as to the alpha-male status of the pack members.
The fact that Gizmo shows reluctance to partake in exercise (otherwise relative to 'team work' in the pack environment) would steer us to believe that indeed Gizmo doesn't truly understand his place in the pack. He may, at times, be of the impression that he is in fact the alpha-male of the family unit (pack) or at the very least, worthy of challenging the pack hierarchy for the position of alpha-male. This challenge is not necessarily in the form of aggression and in fact, aggression is one of the fall-back methods of asserting ones pack-dominance; other methods will be exhausted prior to the challenger resorting to aggressive means.
In a nutshell, kick his arse of the sofa and make him sleep on the floor or in his own bed before it develops into something else!!! LOL
You would be like that if you were a dog too Lyndon, when it's -20 deg C outside!!!
ReplyDeleteFair Comment I S'pose
