H&R Driver - Andy Bibby

Andy Bibby is a bit of a Canadian Immigration veteran having been over here for three years and he and his family live in Saskatoon, Saskachewan. He first came over here to work for Yanke where he drove team and eventually became an instructor for them, he then moved to Trimac driving "Super-B's" and has now recently joined H&R. Having found out his Canadian experience i decided to pick his brain and found some really useful information.

I first met up with Andy at my first collection down at Safeway in Merced California, i was going in as he was coming out and it was a quick wave and a cheery "hi" on the CB. We later met up again at West Sacremento while being loaded (again for Safeway).

As we were both heading back to Lethbridge we decided to run back together and we could chat over the CB about all things Canadian and all things Immigration.

According to Andy Yanke are a good company to work for although they are a bit lagging behind in the wages, their organisation is good and thee is a friendly atmosphere in dispatch as it is an open plan office and you can walk straight up to who you want to speak too. The runs are also good and there is not too much hanging about. The major thing is though, you must be prepaired to run team. I seems as though British drivers struggle with this as we are not used to it.

When i asked him why he came to H&R, it was basically because he believed thats where the money was and it was an easy company to drive for. In his opinion its about as good as i gets for this type of work in Canada. Okay H&R isnt perfect and there is room for improvement but the grass isnt going to be greener elsewhere.

Now i dont want to keep singing H&R's praises (unless there is someone out there who wants to offer me a pay rise, hint, hint) because that's not what this blog is about but i do think he has some valid points which is why i wanted to share them.

For someone who has been over this long to believe its a good move to move over to H&R makes me believe i made the correct choice. The auto gear box really is a godsend and in this weather you really appreciate the tripac, and according to Andy you arnt really going to make any more money anywhere else. Well thats good enough for me anyway..........................

  1. Hi Lyndon.

Well that's really good information for me, H&R's newest recruit!!
Did he seem to say that the money at H&R is as good as it gets for driving trucks in general, or for driving Reefers?
I don't like moving around and like to stick with the same company. I'm looking at spending many years with H&R. I'm sure in 5 years time when they have got to grips with the immigration thing, they will have it even more sorted.

It's good to know there are experienced drivers with PR coming to work with H&R. Personally I can't wait to get out and work for them...and it's just as well i don't like the look of those corndogs!! :-)

  2. He seemed to think H&R was one of the best ones but he also said good things about other companies too.
